Changes in the intestinal microbiome have been associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes, epidemiological studies of effects fecal transfer germ-free mice. We review mechanisms by which alterations contribute to development metabolic diseases, recent advances, such as on lipid metabolism. Strategies developed modify reverse alterations, might be used therapies. discuss approaches that shown mouse models disorders, how these translated humans improve health.
